Boondocks is an authentic American Diner serving up the ultimate home cooking-style comfort food just a few minutes away from Old Street station – a larger version of its sister restaurant Stax Diner, which I’ve walked past many a time in the beautiful Kingly Court.
Ask any Londoner where to find the best pizza and amongst some of the other big names like Franco Manca, Pizza Pilgrims and Homeslice, Pizza Union is almost sure to come up. It’s most recent expansion to a new location near Aldgate (which is the one we tried) would certainly suggest it’s popular, but does it live up to the hype..?
Firedog is* a newly opened Aegean restaurant open from morning til night serving up food all day and drinks in the evening.

Truffle + Prosecco = Trufflesecco
See what they did there? Just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s a bar dedicated to Prosecco and truffles. Not chocolate truffles, the gourmet “diamond of the kitchen” mushroom known best for it’s unique flavour and bizarre extraction process.
After all of the Instagram hype, including apparently being labelled “the most Instagrammable cafe” I was so excited to visit this place. I went with my friends on a chilled Sunday afternoon after brunching at Andina, discovering the most amazing cookies at Mast Brothers and wandering down the beautiful (but absolutely rammed!) Columbia Road flower market. It’s a bit out of the way so we ended up taking the bus – my first ever London bus experience believe it or not!
