I’ve been so excited to share this with you all! I’ve been baking for as long as I can remember, but since starting work, having an operation and a number of other events caused a big lifestyle change for me a couple of years ago, I’ve absolutely loved experimenting in the kitchen trying to create more nutritious versions of the treats I love. As many of you will know, I’m a huge advocate of balance and I truly believe that everyone can find their own balanced lifestyle – staying fit and healthy whilst still enjoying plenty of treats and not having to deprive themselves of the foods they love.
For me, maintaining balance has never been a struggle – whilst I love cakes, cookies, chocolate and pretty much anything sweet, I also love broccoli, spinach and pretty much everything green! Although everyone’s personal balance will be different, I am firmly against diets and cutting out foods or food groups, and I think it’s incredibly sad when people associate ‘healthy eating’ with boring foods and bland chicken, brown rice and broccoli-type meals – in my opinion even the healthiest options don’t have to taste boring! I love creating more nutritious versions of my favourite foods and I’m so excited to finally have the opportunity to share some of them with you too!
About the venue..
Inspired by the NYC fitness scene, Tribeca Studios opened in January last year and now have well over one hundred classes a week, ranging from boxing, body pump and HIIT to candlelit yoga, pre- and post-pregnancy exercise classes and Zumba. They also hold workshops (stress management is this month’s theme), there are plenty of lockers on-site, showers with everything from dry shampoo to straighteners and moisturiser available for complimentary use and they even have a smoothie bar and free porridge for after your workout!
Recently, Georgie and I went down to try out one of their circuits classes and we loved it! Far from the traditional circuits class where you go round so many times that you feel like you might die of boredom if you’re forced to do the same exercise again, this whole class was a complete mix of exercises and even finished with some boxing! As well as classes, Tribeca Studio regularly holds events and pop-ups and I’m so excited to announce that on SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER, I’ll be there selling a range of my healthier bakes, with a mix of refined-sugar free, high-protein, grain-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan options. I have to admit that as someone who doesn’t advocate cutting out foods or food groups without the medical need to do so, I often find that my bakes are dairy or gluten-free purely by chance, by virtue of the fact that I just try to use natural whole foods, as opposed to me making a conscious effort but I’ll ensure that I put in a lot of thought into making sure there’s something for those with real intolerances/specific dietary requirements.

Whilst social media certainly has its negatives, I think it’s an incredible community – it can be such a powerful way to spread messages and an amazing opportunity to meet like-minded people. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Georgie (@georgiethorntonfit) through social media and I can honestly say I’ve never met a more thoughtful, generous and kind-hearted person. I’m amazed by how much we have in common, how aligned our views are and I’m proud to call her one of my closest friends – I feel as though I’ve known her my whole life! To think that our paths would probably have never even crossed had it not been for social media makes me feel so lucky! As well as meeting Georgie, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know so many of you and I’m so grateful for all the lovely kind and supportive messages I get every single day. I know it sounds silly but when I receive messages saying that I’ve inspired or helped any of you in any way on your personal journeys to a balanced lifestyle it makes me feel so privileged to have been a part of it.
I would absolutely love to meet as many of you as possible and it would mean the world to me if you came down to try some of my bakes or even just to say hello! For those of you who are London-based, it’s a few minutes’ walk from Ealing Broadway station and for those of you who aren’t, it’s easy to drive to since it’s on the outskirts of London (even though I usually get the train into London I’ll be driving as it’s quicker!). There’s road-side parking and a mall car park at Spring Bridge Road (W5 2AA) where you can park all day for £7 and perhaps head into Central London afterwards to try out some of the absolutely incredible food spots that London has to offer! I’ll be there all day and of course the studio also have a ton of classes if you wanted to try one out while you’re there! 🙂
