One of the first places I visited in London, and despite being so late to blog about it (I went long before I discovered the world of blogging or Instagram!) – I’ve been recommending it for years!
Essence Cuisine is a plant-based restaurant originally founded in LA with Matthew Kenney, who is (apparently – I’m relatively clueless when it comes to this type of food!) known as the world’s leading plant-based chef being the brains behind the concept, which offers a menu free from meat, dairy, gluten and refined-sugar.
Is there anything more quintessentially British than a good mug of tea? The first thing I do when I have friends round is to put the kettle on and some of my favourite things – afternoon tea, a good catch up over tea and cake or cosy nights in with tea and biscuits in front of the TV all revolve around it.
La Cocotte is a chicken rotisserie restaurant based in the beautiful area that is Notting Hill. With a focus around grilled chicken and sides, you’d be forgiven for expecting a bit of a glorified Nandos, but as soon as you step inside the restaurant you’ll forget that thought even crossed your mind – the focus on chicken is quite literally where the similarity ends. Good quality, warming comfort food, a beautiful interior and a bar serving up incredible cocktails – it couldn’t be further away from the global fast-food chain.
To celebrate London Cocktail Week (2nd– 8th October 2017) Discover Kale offered to send me a cocktail making kit. I love kale (controversial perhaps but I genuinely do love it!) and I love cocktails (they’re one of few alcoholic drinks I ever have!) but I wasn’t sure I could see any connection between the two! Nevertheless I agreed – I’ve never tried to make my own cocktails before and was excited to try! – and was sent a champagne saucer (I had no idea what it was before I read the blogger’s brief!), a metal cocktail shaker and a bottle of Pin Gin – Lincolshire’s premier gin created by Bottomley Distillers.
