When you think of Mexican food, pancakes is probably one of the last things that springs to mind, but if you’re looking for some of the best brunch pancakes I’ve had for a long time then head to Corazón in Soho.
From the moment I heard about The Abbey restaurant I knew it was going to be special.
Open in a type of trial phase just for select dinner services and at weekends, their initial aim is to focus on top quality rather than squeezing in as many covers as possible, which for a new restaurant (or in fact any restaurant) is truly admirable, but it’s really paid off. With a solid focus on providing both food and service of the highest quality, it’s a place we’ll be returning to time and time again.
Based in the beautifully picturesque village of Ripponden, Hito is a modern tapas bar and restaurant serving fresh, authentic Spanish cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner at weekends, and for dinner from Wednesday through Friday, the founders believe in combining some of the best produce that Spain has to offer with the wonderful charm and welcome of Yorkshire. The result is a beautifully modern yet relaxed restaurant, perfect for all occasions. It’s the kind of place where I feel like you could dress up for a special occasion or dress down for a relaxed family meal – after a lovely walk along a nearby canal we opted for the latter and were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside.
If like me you’re food obsessed but need an activity to occupy you between meals then look no further! I booked this class as a Christmas present to my mum, as I thought it would be something fun for us to do together. In all honestly I didn’t know what to expect.. for all I knew it could’ve just been a time filler between breakfast and lunch! How wrong I was though – it was an incredible experience and one I’ll be repeating in the future for sure!
“The best way to explore the world is via your stomach” was the line that the wonderfully in-character Phileas Fogg announced to us at the start of our supper club adventure, and I couldn’t agree more! What better way to discover a country and all it has to offer than through the food it has to offer, from tiny little street food carts to the most luxurious fine-dining restaurants?
