I’m surprised by how many messages I got asking for food requests from New York citizens and foreigners alike – I’m sorry I can’t reply to everyone individually but hopefully this blog post helps!

Although we were only in New York for 5 days and there were many places we didnโ€™t make it to I think we still probably managed to eat what the average couple would’ve got through in a month ๐Ÿ˜› So I’ll do my best to list some of my favourites including a few absolute must-visits if you’re only there for a few days!

R chocolate

For a chocolate lover like me, I genuinely donโ€™t think I could imagine a more heavenly way to spend a weekend afternoon than having chocolate afternoon tea. I was lucky enough to be spoilt by one of my closest friends and taken here for a (very!) belated birthday present. Weโ€™re both so busy that itโ€™s hard for us to find time to catch up, so spending hours chatting over tea, coffee and cake was absolutely perfect.

Palm Vaults

After all of the Instagram hype, including apparently being labelled “the most Instagrammable cafe” I was so excited to visit this place. I went with my friends on a chilled Sunday afternoon after brunching at Andina, discovering the most amazing cookies at Mast Brothers and wandering down the beautiful (but absolutely rammed!) Mae + Harvey aka a blogging disaster!!

I thought long and hard about writing up a post about this place – I thought it wasn’t worth my effort. I didn’t even want to waste my time drafting something. But when I’m in the mood I can write up a post in minutes and this was one of those times when what happened was so ridiculous that I almost feel compelled to document it. It was one of those bizarre, awkward, embarrassing situations that you can’t help but laugh off afterwards.ย To be honest I almost didnโ€™t bother as I didnโ€™t want to spend time writing something so negative on my blog but when Ban* posted a very aptly timed meme about โ€˜knowing your self worthโ€™ I decided to try and turn it round into a positive message.

Tombo Japanese Cafรฉ & Matcha Bar

When my mum came down to visit for Mother’s Day I knew I wanted to take her somewhere special and I always think that nothing fits the bill better than afternoon tea. Iโ€™ll be honest โ€“ I donโ€™t tend to celebrate those โ€˜commercial rubbishโ€™ days (expensive cards, pointless novelty trinkets and overpriced meals โ€“ no thanks!) but sometimes itโ€™s just a good excuse to spoil someone who deserves it. She might be my mum but our tastes in food couldn’t be more different; she’s not into cakes and sweet stuff though – she finds them too sweet and too heavy, and she doesn’t even really like bread! I know what you’re thinking, but I promise we are actually related.. though I have no idea where my appetite or my sweet tooth come from!
